He was born in Sioux City, Iowa and grew up in northeast South Dakota. After high school, he attended the University of Kansas, receiving his undergraduate degree in 1976 and his law degree in 1979. Mark’s career has involved all areas of civil trial practice. He has settled or litigated hundreds of cases involving matters such as vehicle collisions, products liability, premises liability or "slip and falls," workers' compensation, and medical negligence. He also has litigated numerous types of employment law matters, including claims for back wages and commissions, discrimination, and harassment. These include claims involving race, sex, and disability. In fact, Mark was involved in one of the first successful trials of a claim under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Because of his trial experience, he has also been retained by defendants or their insurance carriers to defend them in litigation in these same areas of practice. He believes that this experience has allowed him to better see both sides of a case and thus represent his clients more effectively.

Prior to law school, Jason J. Fletes worked as a police officer, and after law school he moved on to become a prosecutor with the County Attorney's Office for Franklin County, Kansas. Because of that background, he has experience handling serious felony and misdemeanor matters as well as routine municipal court matters, including DUI, driver's license issues, and traffic tickets. His practice areas are diverse; in addition to an active criminal defense practice, he handles family law matters, including divorce, child custody, adoption, and support cases. Jason also represents plaintiffs and defendants in both large and small litigation cases, including those involving personal injury, workers' compensation, business disputes, and contract matters. Additionally, he assists clients in pursuing claims for Social Security disability.

Jason will make every effort to resolve your case in an efficient manner. He enjoys trying cases and representing clients in court in both Kansas and Missouri. Like many personal injury and other specialist lawyers, he can work on an hourly, flat fee, or contingent fee basis or, as he does in most of his cases, on a combination of the three (however, no family law or criminal cases are taken on a contingent fee basis).
